Changemaker SEL Curriculum

We believe that it isn’t only our social obligation to empower children facing educational barriers to overcome and succeed. But also, every child deserves the opportunity to learn what it means to be a changemaker. Our mission is to provide schools with the resources to teach students about global perspective, generosity, finding their voice, and empowering others. By equipping future leaders with these essential skills, we can foster generations that prioritize sharing resources and supporting one another, rather than competing and hoarding what’s critical.

This new program offers schools a hands-on Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum focused on what it means to be a changemaker. Students will explore key topics such as global perspectives, the importance of education, and poverty both in the U.S. and globally. Currently, the program includes five lessons, and our goal is to expand it into a month-long micro-study with 20 lessons. If you’re interested in funding this project, please reach out.

At present, the curriculum has been implemented in three schools. Teachers deliver the lessons, with the final lesson being a hands-on project where students work in teams to design a school environment using a variety of supplies. For the rest of the month, students participate in the Penny Project, bringing in a penny a day to see how small contributions can create a significant impact. At the end, the school decides which project the raised funds will support, and our team in that country will distribute the funds and send back a thank-you video.
